The United States carried out airstrikes against Iran for the 11th straight day.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which oversees the Middle East, said on X (formerly Twitter) on the 21st (local time) that "at 7 p.m. Eastern time today, we began airstrikes on military targets inside Iran."
Central Command said the strikes were intended "to continue degrading Iran's ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz."
The United States and Iran remain in armed clashes over control of the Strait of Hormuz.
As Iran, asserting control, repeatedly attacked ships attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without its authorization, the United States has been retaliating.
The United States is currently striking Iranian military facilities scattered along the Strait of Hormuz, while Iran is responding with counterattacks focused on U.S. military bases in Gulf countries.
