Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on the 22nd (local time) that it attacked a U.S. military base in Jordan, causing U.S. casualties.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps issued a statement that day saying that as part of the "Nasr2" operation, it attacked the King Faisal base and the Prince Hassan base in Jordan with missiles and drones, killing or injuring many of the U.S. troops stationed there.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that the attack hit a hangar used to prepare F-15 fighter jets for sortie, two large helicopters, and eight new MQ-9 drones.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps called the attack "legitimate retaliation in response to U.S. airstrikes," adding, "U.S. forces repeatedly targeted military and civilian facilities and have come to face overwhelming retaliation." It continued, "If the aggressor is not punished, only a vicious cycle of war and negotiation will repeat," and said, "If U.S. aggression continues, we are ready to launch a painful operation that will cause 'national mourning' in the United States."
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that if Iran attacks ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, he will bomb Iran's power plants or bridges as a corresponding measure. He said the power plants and bridges to be bombed are "in the capital Tehran or next to it."
