U.S. President Donald Trump on the 22nd (local time) warned that if Iran attacks ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, he will bomb Iran's power plants or bridges in a corresponding move.
Trump said on his social media (SNS) that "whenever the Islamic Republic of Iran attacks in the Strait of Hormuz using missiles, rockets, drones or other devices or weapons, we will bomb and destroy (Iran's) power plants or bridges." He said the power plants and bridges to be bombed are "those located in the capital Tehran or next to it."
Trump had earlier also signaled that he would strike Pickaxe Mountain, which is presumed to house Iran's nuclear facilities.
The United States began airstrikes against Iran on the 11th, triggered by an attack on a civilian ship transiting the Strait of Hormuz. In the process, Iranian infrastructure such as bridges, roads and railways was reportedly attacked. Iran's military is pushing back, saying it will "strike all U.S. assets in the Middle East."
Meanwhile, the Iranian government said that 53 people have been killed and 592 injured in U.S. airstrikes that have continued for 12 days. It added that the dead included women (6) and minors under 18 (3). Among the injured, 535 were treated and discharged, and 36 remain hospitalized. The remaining 21 were was found to have received first aid at the scene.
