Princess Anne, sister of King Charles III of the United Kingdom, will visit Korea.
On the 13th, the British Embassy in Korea said Princess Anne will visit from that day through the 16th on a four-day, three-night schedule with her husband, Adm. Sir Timothy Laurence.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Imjin River and the Battle of Gapyeong, key engagements of the Korean War in which British troops fought. Accordingly, Princess Anne will attend a memorial service at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan to honor the sacrifices of British and Commonwealth veterans.
Princess Anne will visit Busan and Ulsan to tour sites of Korea-U.K. cooperation in the maritime, shipbuilding, and defense industries, and she will meet with major Korean corporations and industry officials working with the United Kingdom to discuss future cooperation.
She will also attend a Korea-U.K. reception hosted by the British Embassy in Korea and visit Save the Children Korea, a nongovernmental organization (NGO) that promotes children's rights. Princess Anne has served as chair of Save the Children UK since 1970.
Princess Anne is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on President Lee Jae-myung for a closed-door conversation. The British Embassy in Korea said, "This visit will serve as an opportunity to highlight once again the long-standing friendship between Korea and the United Kingdom."
