U.S. President Donald Trump held a phone call with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky on the 3rd (local time), a day before the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
Barak Ravid, a reporter for the U.S. online outlet Axios, said on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account on the 4th, citing anonymous sources, that "President Zelensky spoke with President Trump on the 3rd and congratulated him on the 250th anniversary of U.S. Independence Day."
However, it was not relayed what else the two leaders discussed.
Earlier, the Financial Times (FT) cited multiple recent sources to report that at last month's Group of Seven (G7) summit, President Trump "was deeply impressed and ecstatic" about Ukraine's recent drone operation that struck targets deep inside mainland Russia at long range.
FT also reported that President Trump at the summit agreed to additional sanctions on Russia's energy sector.
