There is an outlook that follow-up talks after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to end the war between the United States and Iran will resume in Pakistan after the funeral of former Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.
Saudi state broadcaster Al Arabiya reported on the 4th (local time), citing sources, that the two countries will resume talks in Pakistan as early as on the 11th. Khamenei's funeral will be held for six days starting that day.
The outlet said the resumed talks are expected to address several pending issues, including sanctions on Iran, the release of Iran's frozen assets, and nuclear negotiations, adding that "the focus is on curbing the escalation of tensions and resuming negotiations on the nuclear program."
Earlier, the two countries' working-level teams held indirect talks in Doha, Qatar. U.S. President Donald Trump said "the talks were very good," while the Iranian side claimed they agreed to partially release the frozen assets.
