On the 29th (local time), according to the Associated Press and Reuters, a shooting occurred at a youth protection facility in Stade near Hamburg. Police said 5 adults were found dead at the scene, and 1 more adult died after being taken to a hospital.
The shooting took place at a welfare facility on Dankersstraße in Stade. The facility is known for providing temporary accommodation to women who are pregnant or have young children.
Police arrested a prime suspect shortly after the incident. They were also said to be investigating the possible involvement of two others. Citing a police announcement, Reuters reported that there appeared to be no additional suspects on the run. Local media also carried eyewitness accounts that a man and a woman tried to leave the scene by car but were stopped by police.
Police carried out a large-scale operation in the area around the scene and said there is currently no direct danger to the general public.
