The Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it launched tourism promotion activities targeting the Korean market by holding the "Da Nang tourism promotion companion partner gala" at Lotte Hotel in Jung District, Seoul, on the 29th.
The event was attended by Ambassador to Korea Vũ Hồ of Vietnam; Văn Bá Sơn, deputy director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Lee Chang-geun, Vietnam tourism ambassador to Korea; and tourism industry officials.
In congratulatory remarks, Ambassador Vũ Hồ said, "Korea has long been Da Nang's most important overseas tourism market," adding, "From January to April this year, about 823,000 Korean tourists visited Da Nang, accounting for about 22% of all foreign tourists to Da Nang. This is roughly half the total number of Korean tourists who visited Vietnam."
He also said, "We will continue to work closely with the government, local governments, and corporations to expand exchanges between the peoples of both countries and actively support cooperation in the tourism sector."
Deputy Director Văn Bá Sơn said, "Da Nang will expand cooperation with airlines, travel agencies, online platforms, media, and Korean investors to push for the development of new tourism products and the expansion of air routes."
Da Nang said it views Korea as a core strategic market and is expanding a variety of tourism products, including marine leisure, golf, MICE (meetings, incentive travel, conventions, exhibitions), weddings, wellness, and gastronomy. It also plans to strengthen promotions using digital platforms and attract MICE and wedding tourists.
From July 1 to Dec. 31, Da Nang will offer a 20% discount on check-in counter fees at the international terminal of Da Nang International Airport for international airlines. In addition, from Sept. 23 to 26, during the Chuseok holiday, it will offer welcome gifts to Korean tourists and unveil customized tourism products for families and couples. In Busan, it will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to strengthen tourism cooperation with the Busan Tourism Organization.
