U.S. President Donald Trump condemned Iran's attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz as a violation of the U.S.-Iran cease-fire deal and pushed back strongly.
On the 26th (local time), President Trump said on Truth Social that Iran launched at least four suicide drones targeting ships passing through the strait. One hit the upper deck of a large cargo ship and damaged part of the hull, but the vessel reportedly continued sailing. The other three were shot down by U.S. forces, Trump said.
He criticized the attack as a rash act that openly shakes the cease-fire agreement. Earlier, Iran was reported to have attacked the Singapore-flagged container ship "Ever Lovely" that was transiting the Strait of Hormuz at dawn the previous day. The ship sustained some damage at the time, but no casualties were reported.
However, President Trump did not specify the exact timing of the attack in his post. It remains unclear whether the remark referred to the Ever Lovely incident the previous day or indicated additional attacks. The U.S.-Iran end-of-war agreement MOU calls for the immediate and permanent cessation of military activities across the front.
