On the 12th (local time), David Hockney, a giant of British contemporary art, died at 88.
Hockney's publicist said, "One of the most important figures in 20th- and 21st-century contemporary art, Hockney died peacefully at home about a month before his 89th birthday."
Hockney, a painter representing British contemporary art, was born on July 9, 1937, in Bradford, England, and graduated from the Royal College of Art in London. He later lived in Southern California in the United States for a long time.
He moved across portraits, still lifes, and landscapes, rejected conventional single-point perspective, and was known for exploring diverse media.
His representative works include the swimming pool series featuring Los Angeles (LA) pools such as "A Bigger Splash," and "Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy," which depicts a famous fashion designer couple. These works portray figures and landscapes with bold compositions and colors.
