U.S. President Donald Trump on the 12th (local time) expressed strong displeasure toward Iran.
Trump said on the social media platform Truth Social that "the (end-of-war related) terms Iran leaked to fake news have nothing to do with the terms agreed to in writing," and "what they said, including their weak and pathetic statement about having reached a deal, has nothing to do with the truth."
He then blasted Iran as "really vicious people to deal with," adding, "there is no such thing as good-faith negotiations with them. Incredible."
Trump also said, "the drone attack that targeted Indian ships exiting the Strait of Hormuz last night and was completely thwarted is totally unacceptable," adding, "they had better come to their senses quickly."
Trump said the previous day that he had reached an agreement with Iran to end the war and that the document was in its final coordination stage, with a signing ceremony to be held in Europe as early as this weekend, but within a day he unleashed criticism of Iran.
This appears to stem from dissatisfaction that, as Trump pointed out, much of the "end-of-war memorandum of understanding (MOU)" details reported by Iranian media were favorable to Iran.
Meanwhile, CNN reported that Trump told supporters the previous day that he had "ended the war." According to the report, Trump joined a politician's rally by phone the previous evening and said, "I don't know if you heard, but we ended the war with Iran today."
The rally was to support Georgia Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, who is running for Georgia governor and advanced to the Republican primary runoff. Trump said, "They agreed to what we strongly demanded, that they would never possess nuclear weapons. That was our sole objective and accounted for 95% of the terms of the agreement."
