Iran's negotiating team for talks with the United States has halted the exchange of messages with the U.S. aimed at a cease-fire agreement, Iran's Tasnim news agency reported on the 1st (local time). Tasnim is Iran's state-run media.
Tasnim reported, "In Lebanon, the crimes of the Zionist regime (Israel) continue. As the cease-fire has been violated on all fronts, including Lebanon, the Iranian negotiating team has decided to halt dialogue and the exchange of documents through the mediator."
Tasnim also reported that Iranian authorities and the negotiating team demanded that Israel withdraw from occupied areas in Lebanon and said there would be no further talks until the demand is met.
Iran and the axis of resistance (anti-Israel armed groups and forces backed by Iran) warned that to punish Israel and its supporters they would completely close the Strait of Hormuz and activate new fronts, including the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
The Strait of Hormuz, which was closed immediately after the war with the United States, has seen about 30 ships a day pass through since the end of last month.
