The original soundtrack (OST) Golden from the Netflix animated film K-pop Demon Hunters won song of the year at the American Music Awards.
Golden won at the ceremony held on the 25th (local time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, beating competitors including Alex Warren's Ordinary, Morgan Wallen's I'm The Problem, Taylor Swift's The Fate of Ophelia, and Ella Langley's Choosin' Texas.
Korean American singers EJAE and Rei Ami, who sang as the fictional girl group Huntrix in the film, attended the ceremony and took the trophy. Another singer who performed as Huntrix, Audrey Nuna, did not attend.
EJAE said, "This song and film drew great strength from the fans," and added, "We closed the 'hontology.' Thank you to the fans and the K-pop Demon Hunters team."
She also said "happy birthday" to Rei Ami, who turned 31 that day.
Rei Ami also listed the names of those she was grateful to, including the fandom, family, and friends, and said, "Thank you to the K-pop Demon Hunters team for giving me a year that changed my life."
Golden, which EJAE co-composed, gained worldwide popularity, topping the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks alongside the film's success.
Golden has previously won at major global awards ceremonies, including the Grammy Awards, the Academy Awards, and the Golden Globes.
