U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 25th (local time) that he could also accept a plan to handle Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium inside Iran or in a third country.
In a post on the social networking service Truth Social, President Trump said, "The enriched uranium will be transferred to the United States immediately and disposed of, or, as a more desirable option, disposed of locally (in Iran) through cooperation and coordination with Iran, or at another appropriate site in the presence of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission or an equivalent body."
Trump has previously floated a plan to send Iran's 440 kilograms of 60%-enriched uranium to the United States. But his comments on the day are seen as making clear that he is also open to alternatives involving disposal inside Iran, among other options.
