U.S. and Iran near deal to extend truce and reopen Hormuz, eye nuclear talks

Major outlets including the U.S. outlet Axios reported on the 23rd (local time) that the United States and Iran are close to signing an agreement that includes a 60-day truce extension.

Axios, citing multiple U.S. government officials, said the two countries are close to signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that specifies a 60-day truce extension, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, allowing Iran to freely sell oil, and talks to limit its nuclear program.

With U.S. President Donald Trump earlier saying that an end-of-war deal with Iran is imminent, attention is focusing on the final outcome of the talks.
