Regarding Iran's cease-fire proposal that President Donald Trump of the United States expressed disappointment with, a Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran on the 11th countered that "Iran's latest offer is reasonable and also generous."
According to CNN and others, on this day Esmail Baghaei, the Spokesperson, said at a press conference, "(Regarding the cease-fire talks) despite all the disruptions and obstructions so far, we have focused on Iran's national interest."
Spokesperson Baghaei noted, "The United States must stop the war and first halt its illegal economic blockade and acts of piracy." He added, "Going forward, we will secure our interests by any means."
Earlier, the United States sent Iran a proposal for a cease-fire. In this regard, the U.S. online outlet Axios reported on the 6th that the two countries were close to signing a one-page cease-fire memorandum of understanding (MOU).
However, U.S. President Donald Trump said on the social media platform Truth Social the previous day, "I just read the response from Iran's so-called 'representatives,'" adding, "I do not like it. Totally unacceptable."
Iran's cease-fire plan was reported to include demands such as a halt to all acts of war, including Israel's attacks on Hezbollah; compensation for war damage; recognition of Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz; a comprehensive lifting of sanctions against Iran; and the restoration of Iranian overseas assets frozen by the United States.
