U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will visit Korea on the 13th ahead of the U.S.-China summit.
Minister Bessent said on his X (formerly Twitter) on the 10th (local time), "Ahead of the historic summit between President Trump and President Xi to be held in Beijing, I plan to visit Japan and Korea on Monday (the 11th) for a series of back-to-back meetings."
Bessent said, "On Tuesday (the 12th), in Tokyo, Japan, I will meet with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama, and other government and private-sector officials to discuss U.S.-Japan economic relations," adding, "On Wednesday (the 13th), I will stop in Seoul to hold talks with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng of the China State Council, then head to Beijing, China, where the summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and President Xi will take place."
Minister Bessent said, "Economic security is national security, and I look forward to a productive series of engagements to advance President Trump's 'America First Economic Agenda.'"
