Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said safe passage for ships through the Strait of Hormuz will be guaranteed.
The Revolutionary Guard Navy said in a statement on the 6th (local time) that "as the invader's threat is neutralized and a new agreement is prepared, safe and stable passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be guaranteed."
It also said, "We thank the captains and shipowners in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman who complied with Iran's regulations on the Strait of Hormuz and contributed to regional maritime security."
Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump declared a halt to "Project Freedom," which helps merchant ships exit the Strait of Hormuz, along with a remark calling it "major progress toward a complete and final (end-of-war) agreement." Immediately after Trump announced the suspension of Project Freedom, Iran's military effectively signaled a policy to reopen the strait.
A U.S. outlet reported that the United States and Iran were close to signing a one-page memorandum of understanding (MOU) containing provisions to end the war and resolve the nuclear issue.
According to Axios, the MOU is said to include a temporary halt (moratorium) on Iran's uranium enrichment, the lifting of U.S. sanctions on Iran and the partial release of frozen funds, the gradual lifting of Iran's restrictions on passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and the gradual lifting of the U.S. maritime blockade of Iran.
The White House was said to be waiting for Iran's response on the key points of the MOU.
