Authorities launched an investigation after a report that a cargo ship came under attack from small boats in waters near the Strait of Hormuz.
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on the 3rd (local time) in a maritime security notice that it received a report from the vessel that "a northbound bulk carrier came under attack from multiple small boats about 11 nautical miles west of Sirik, Iran."
According to the UKMTO, the ship's master reported the attack, and all crew members were confirmed safe. No secondary damage such as environmental pollution was reported.
However, the ship's name, the identity of the small boats, and the specific method of attack were not disclosed. The authorities said the case is under investigation.
The UKMTO advised ships sailing in nearby waters to heighten vigilance and report immediately if there are any suspicious movements.
