U.S. President Donald Trump said during end-of-war negotiations that the war with Iran would be "over fairly soon."
On the 16th (local time), President Trump said at a roundtable event on "tax cuts on tips" held at a Las Vegas hotel in Nevada, "As you can see, we are doing very well," and then made the remark.
He added, "We have the most powerful military anywhere in the world," emphasizing, "I built it during my first four-year term and we are continuing to strengthen it now."
Earlier that day at the White House, President Trump told reporters that there had been significant progress in negotiations with Iran and that they were very close to an agreement. He also said the next talks could be held this weekend and that he could personally visit Islamabad, Pakistan, the negotiation venue.
Meanwhile, Trump was said to have visited Las Vegas to promote the achievements of his tax cut policy ahead of the November midterm elections.
He said, "Thanks to the Republican tax policy, more money went into the pockets of Americans of all income levels this week," adding, "If we do not win the midterm elections, taxes will skyrocket."
