U.S. President Donald Trump projected that Iran will return to the negotiating table despite the collapse of talks to end hostilities with Iran.
In an interview with Fox News on the 12th (local time), President Trump said, "They (Iran) did not leave the negotiating table, and I expect they will come back and give us everything we want."
He went on to underscore that all of Iran's military power had been destroyed, saying, "They have no cards," and, "That's what brought them to the negotiating table, and they are not leaving."
Trump also said, "I can end Iran in a day. I can end every facility, including every energy facility and power plant, in an hour," adding, "They will go back to the Stone Age."
He added, "We have deployed minesweepers there (the Strait of Hormuz)," and, "We currently have state-of-the-art underwater minesweepers, but we are also deploying additional conventional minesweepers."
Asked about his statement that he would blockade the Strait of Hormuz, he emphasized, "We are not going to allow Iran to sell oil to the people they like and make money," adding, "It's going to be all or nothing."
Asked whether his statement that he would impose a 50% tariff on countries sending war materiel to Iran was referring to China, he answered, "Yes. Other countries are included, but if it is confirmed that China did such acts, yes."
On negotiations with Iran, President Trump said, "As the talks reached the final stage, they were very amicable, and we got everything we needed except for the fact that they could not give up their nuclear ambitions," adding, "Frankly, for me, that (nuclear) is by far the most important issue."
