Foreign media reported that the Ministry of National Defense is preparing weeks-long ground operations in Iran.
On the 28th, The Washington Post (WP) cited an anonymous official as saying the Ministry of National Defense is preparing for a ground war in Iran and that the conflict could enter a new phase if President Donald Trump chooses to escalate.
According to the newspaper, the ground operation against Iran is expected to take the form of a surprise raid combining special forces and regular infantry, and it is not expected to reach the level of a full-scale invasion.
Estimates for the duration of the operation range from several weeks to several months.
Commenting on this, White House Spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said, "The mission of the Ministry of National Defense is to prepare to provide the commander in chief with the maximum number of options," but added, "That does not mean the president has made a decision."
Meanwhile, Yemen's Houthi rebels fired missiles toward Israel, formally entering the war.
With the possibility rising that the Red Sea corridor could be blocked following the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of global crude shipments pass, some predict the front could expand to include even Saudi Arabia, which had refrained from military action.
