Tiger Woods, 50, the "golf emperor," who was arrested by police on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, was released after posting bail, authorities said on the 28th (Korea time).
According to AP and other local media, the Martin County Sheriff's Office in Florida said that Woods returned home after paying bail. The bail amount was not disclosed.
The sheriff's office also released Woods' mug shot (a descriptive record photo of a suspect). Wearing the blue shirt he had on at the time of the crash, Woods stared into the camera with bloodshot eyes.
Around 2 p.m. on the 27th local time, Woods was driving his Land Rover on a two-lane road near his home on Jupiter Island in Martin County, Florida, when he was involved in a traffic crash.
He attempted to pass a pickup truck towing a small trailer and collided, and the impact caused his vehicle to overturn. Woods crawled out through the passenger-side window but was not seriously injured.
According to authorities, Woods took a breathalyzer test at the scene and returned a negative result, but he refused a urine test, was arrested, and was detained under state law.
Citing Florida statutes, USA Today reported, "For a first DUI offense, a sentence of up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $1,000 may be imposed, and if a lawful test is refused, a sentence of up to 60 days in jail, a fine of up to $500, and a driver's license suspension may be imposed."
