U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 14th (local time), "Iran is totally defeated and wants to negotiate," adding, "Iran wants to negotiate, but it will not be accepted."
Trump stated accordingly on Truth Social.
Trump also said, "The fake news media does not like reporting how well the U.S. military has performed against Iran."
Earlier, Trump said that, on his orders, the U.S. military carried out an airstrike on Kharg Island, a forward base for Iran's oil exports. Kharg Island serves as an export terminal where 90% of Iran's crude oil exports are loaded.
However, Trump said only military facilities, not oil facilities, were targeted. Trump said, "If the free and safe passage of the Strait of Hormuz is obstructed, we will immediately reconsider the decision (not to destroy the oil facilities on Kharg Island)."
