China's CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology), the world's No. 1 battery corporations, said on the 9th that last year's revenue was 423.702 billion yuan (91.4 trillion won), up 17% from a year earlier. Net profit was 72.201 billion yuan (15.6 trillion won), a 42% increase from a year earlier.
CATL sold 661 GWh (gigawatt-hours) of lithium batteries last year, up 39% from a year earlier. Sales for the power segment rose 42% to 541 GWh. According to energy market research firm SNE Research, CATL's global market share for power battery usage last year was 39.2%. The company noted this marks the ninth straight year at No. 1 worldwide.
In energy storage, CATL recorded 121 GWh in sales last year, with a growth rate of 29%. Shipments of energy storage cells have ranked No. 1 worldwide for five consecutive years.
CATL said it has opened up new areas including the low-altitude economy ("drones"), which Chinese authorities have recently focused on fostering, as well as ships and data centers.
