U.S. President Donald Trump urged Iranian diplomats around the world to apply for asylum.
On the 5th (local time), President Trump said at a White House event inviting Inter Miami, the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) champion, "We urge Iranian diplomats around the world to apply for asylum and help us make Iran, which has tremendous potential, new and better."
Earlier, on the 28th, President Trump launched the military operation "Epic Fury" against Israel and Iran and had been urging the Iranian people to take over the government after the airstrikes, but this is the first time he has conveyed that message to diplomats.
Trump said, "The United States will ensure that, whoever leads Iran in the future, Iran does not pose a threat to the United States, its neighboring countries, Israel, or anyone."
He repeatedly urged Iran's military and police to lay down their arms and surrender, emphasizing, "Now is the time to stand up for the Iranian people and help take back your country."
He added, "We will grant you immunity and put you on the side that is truly right in the eyes of history."
Regarding the operation, Trump said, "Their (Iran's) navy is gone. Twenty-four vessels disappeared in three days," and emphasized, "Their air defenses are gone. They have no air force and no air-defense network. All aircraft and communications networks are gone."
He also added, "The missiles are gone. The launchers are gone. About 60% and 64%, respectively."
On rising oil prices after the airstrikes on Iran, he said, "Additional measures to ease pressure on oil prices are imminent," adding, "Oil prices appear to be fairly stable."
