U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 6th (local time) regarding military operations against Iran that "there will be no deal with Iran other than 'unconditional surrender.'"
Trump said this on the social media platform Truth Social, adding, "After that, if good and acceptable leaders are chosen, we and our many great and very brave allies and partners will work tirelessly to pull Iran back from the brink of ruin."
Trump went on to say, "By doing so, we will make Iran economically much bigger, better, and stronger than ever," adding, "Iran will have a great future."
He then wrote, "Make Iran Great Again (MIGA)." This is a play on Trump's political slogan "Make America Great Again" (MAGA).
Trump's remarks are seen as showing a willingness to wage a medium- to long-term campaign unless Iran fully surrenders.
The United States and Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran on the 28th of last month. The airstrikes killed a significant portion of the leadership, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
