U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that the stockpile of ammunition needed for military operations against Iran is at an all-time high and that there would be no problem carrying out a prolonged campaign.
Trump on the 3rd (local time) strongly denied a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report on his social media platform Truth Social, saying, "The United States possesses an unlimited supply of mid- to high-grade weapons." He criticized, "The WSJ article is wrong and a disgrace."
Earlier, the WSJ reported that stocks of U.S. air-defense interceptor missiles and sea-launched Tomahawk cruise missiles are declining, which could limit President Trump's military options if the conflict drags on. In response, Trump countered that the report was not true.
Reposting a message he uploaded the previous night, Trump said, "America's stockpile of mid- to high-grade ammunition is larger than ever and of the highest quality," adding, "According to today's briefing, we essentially have an unlimited supply."
He went on to emphasize, "With this stockpile alone, which is superior to other countries' top-tier weapons, we can wage war forever, and very successfully."
However, regarding the top-tier weapons stockpile, he noted, "It is at a good level, but not as much as we want," hinting at the need for some reinforcement. He added, "A considerable additional quantity is stockpiled in external countries."
Trump also criticized his predecessor, former President Joe Biden, for providing advanced weapons to Ukraine without sufficiently replenishing them. He said, "I rebuilt the military during my first term and continue to do so now," adding, "The United States has stockpiled sufficiently and is ready to win big."
