A rumor that Hollywood master director Quentin Tarantino had died, which recently spread online, has been confirmed as fake news.
According to a report by U.S. entertainment outlet TMZ on the 2nd (local time), the rumor that Director Tarantino died in Israel in an Iranian missile attack was all false. A close associate of Tarantino told TMZ, "Quentin is alive and well. His family is all safe as well."
Tarantino, who married Israel-born actor and model Daniela Pick and has two children, is said to be splitting his time between his hometown of Los Angeles (LA) and Israel.
As armed clashes between the United States and Israel and Iran, which began on the 28th, have continued for four days, claims spread on social media (SNS) that "Director Tarantino died in Iran's missile attack on Israel."
The Tarantino death rumor started with a post by a user on X (formerly Twitter) with about 150,000 followers. The user cited U.S. entertainment outlet Deadline as the source, but it was all found to be untrue. Deadline said, "The post misattributed its news source," adding, "Contrary to the misinformation on X, Tarantino is alive and well, according to a source close to the director."
Also on X, several AI-generated images were posted claiming to show Director Tarantino in an Israeli bomb shelter. Deadline reported, "These images were also confirmed to be fake."
Tarantino is a legendary Hollywood film director. He debuted in 1992 with the low-budget film "Reservoir Dogs." In 1994, he won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival for "Pulp Fiction," gaining worldwide recognition.
