Iran on the 28th (local time) condemned Israel's attack on its territory as an act of aggression in violation of international law and immediately launched a counterstrike against Israel.
According to RIA Novosti, Iran's Interior Ministry said in a statement that "the criminal enemy has once again violated international law and committed an act of aggression against our precious territory during negotiations."
Iran also immediately attacked Israel. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement that it carried out a first strike by launching missiles and drones at Israel in response to the attack on Iran.
According to the Times of Israel and others, multiple ballistic missiles were launched from Iran toward Israel over the course of an hour, and sirens are blaring across northern and southern Israel. However, no casualties have been confirmed so far.
A Revolutionary Guard Spokesperson told RIA Novosti, "Our response will come within the next few hours," and claimed the attack on Iran was Israel's "miscalculation."
Earlier, when Israel struck Iran in June last year, the Revolutionary Guard launched a counterattack about 20 hours later, but this time it responded immediately in about an hour. Iranian media reported that dozens of missiles were used in the attack on Israel.
