Maddox (24), the eldest son of Hollywood actors Angelina Jolie (50) and Brad Pitt (62), dropped his father's surname "Pitt" from the credits of his mother's new film.
According to entertainment outlet People on the 26th (local time), Maddox served as an assistant director on the drama film "Couture," starring Jolie. In the film, Jolie plays "Maxine Walker," a director diagnosed with breast cancer.
In the end credits of the film, which opened in France on the 18th, his name appeared as "Maddox Jolie," not "Maddox Jolie-Pitt."
Also, in the production notes distributed when the film was first unveiled at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September last year, his name was listed as "Maddox Jolie."
This contrasts with the past. In the 2024 Netflix film "Maria," Maddox worked as a production assistant, and the credits then used the name "Maddox Jolie-Pitt."
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt began divorce proceedings in 2016 and finalized their legal relationship in 2024 after litigation. Jolie is currently raising six children: Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Knox, and Vivienne.
Maddox is the first son Jolie adopted in Cambodia before marrying Pitt. In 2019, he entered Yonsei University Underwood International College (UIC) to major in biochemistry.
Maddox is not the only child who has dropped the father's surname. Zahara (21) introduced herself as "Zahara Marlee Jolie" at an event in 2024, and Shiloh (19) legally changed the name to "Shiloh Jolie" shortly after becoming an adult. Vivienne (17) was also credited as "Vivienne Jolie" in a Broadway production.
