U.S. President Donald Trump on the 28th (local time) warned that a U.S. military fleet heading toward Iran is larger than during the previous Venezuela operation and urged Iran to reach a swift nuclear deal.
Trump said on his social media (SNS) platform Truth Social that "a massive fleet with strong power, passion and purpose is heading to Iran."
He emphasized that "the fleet led by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln is larger in scale than the force that was deployed to Venezuela."
Trump added, "As with Venezuela, this fleet is ready and willing to complete its mission immediately if necessary."
This invoked the military might that ousted Venezuela's President Nicolás Maduro and signaled that an urgent military operation against Iran could be launched.
Trump pressed Iran to return to the negotiating table. Aimed at Iran, he said, "Come to the negotiating table quickly and negotiate a fair and equitable 'ban on nuclear weapons' agreement," adding, "This is good for all parties."
He continued, "Time is running out. It (time) truly matters," urging, "As I told Iran before, make a deal."
