Hong Kong actor Leung Siu-lung (梁小龍; Yang So-ryong), widely known for playing "Hua Yun Xie Shen (Toad)" in the film "Kung Fu Hustle," died in Shenzhen, China, on the 14th, Hong Kong media reported on the 19th. He was 77.
Born in Hong Kong in April 1948, Leung Siu-lung learned martial arts from his father, who performed with a Cantonese opera troupe, and mastered Wing Chun and karate. Active in Hong Kong action cinema in the 1970s and 1980s, he was called one of the "Four Little Dragons" of Hong Kong along with Bruce Lee (Lee So-ryong), Jackie Chan (Cheng Long), and Ti Lung (Di Long).
In director Stephen Chow's 2004 film "Kung Fu Hustle" (released in Korea in 2005), he drew audiences' attention as "Hua Yun Xie Shen (火雲邪神)," a peerless master who conceals his strength and lives as an ordinary neighborhood middle-aged man. He later appeared in the 2020 film "Kung Fu Hustle 2."
