U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 9th (local time) that he canceled a second planned attack against Venezuela.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social that "Venezuela is releasing political prisoners en masse as a signal that it 'seeks peace,'" adding, "This is a very important and wise gesture."
He added, "The United States and Venezuela are working well together, especially to rebuild oil and gas infrastructure bigger and better in a modern form."
He continued, "Thanks to this cooperation, I canceled the second attack that had been anticipated earlier," adding, "It does not appear to be necessary anymore."
However, "for safety and security purposes, all (U.S. military) vessels will remain exactly where they are," he said.
Trump also said, "At least $100 billion (about 146 trillion won) will be invested by 'Big Oil (major oil companies),' and I will meet all of them at the White House today."
