U.S. President Donald Trump said on the 25th (local time) that he supplied Islamic State (IS) terrorists based in Nigeria.
Trump said on his social media, Truth Social, "Tonight, under my orders as commander in chief, the United States carried out strong and lethal strikes against ISIS (the U.S. military's term for IS) terrorists who have primarily targeted and brutally killed innocent Christians in northwestern Nigeria."
He added, "This is a level not seen in years, even centuries," and said, "I previously warned these terrorists that if they did not stop the massacre of Christians, they would pay a hellish price, and tonight that warning was carried out."
Trump said, "The Ministry of National Defense carried out numerous flawless strikes that only the United States can do," adding, "Under my leadership, Korea will not tolerate the spread of radical Islamic terrorism."
He went on, "May God's blessing be with our military, and Merry Christmas to everyone, including the dead terrorists," adding, "If they continue the massacre of Christians, more terrorists will meet death."
