On the 14th (local time), the death toll from the mass shooting at a Jewish event venue on a Sydney beach in Australia rose to 16.
According to the BBC, Ryan Park, Minister of Health for New South Wales (NWS), said the number of dead was 15 and that one of the gunmen was also shot dead.
Park, the Minister, said that among the dead was one 12-year-old child, and three other children are currently being treated at a hospital.
Mahl Lanyon of New South Wales said the two gunmen were father and son. Police said the father, a 50-year-old man, was a legal firearm owner and that the number of guns registered to him was six—the same number found at Bondi Beach.
Earlier, at about 5 p.m. on the 14th, a shooting occurred at Bondi Beach in eastern Sydney, New South Wales (NSW), ahead of a Hanukkah event, a Jewish holiday, scheduled to take place at Bondi Beach.
Local police said they shot and killed one of the two suspects and arrested the other, who was seriously injured. During the incident, some civilians risked danger to subdue the gunman and seize the weapon.
