An Asian restaurant in Italy has come under fire for an inappropriate advertisement. It promoted Korean food using Korean profanity.
Seo Kyung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women's University, said on social media on the day that an Asian restaurant in Italy that sells Korean-style fried chicken and tteokbokki posted an ad video using Korean profanity.
Seo said, "I received tips from Koreans living in Italy and checked," adding, "Recently, the restaurant used Korean profanity such as 'ssiX' in an SNS video promoting Korean food."
The restaurant sells various Korean dishes and Asian food such as Korean-style fried chicken and tteokbokki, and is said to be located in Palermo, the capital and largest city of Sicily, Italy.
Seo voiced concern that "the Korean sentences in the video do not follow grammar at all, and especially the use of Korean profanity could easily cause serious misunderstandings among foreigners."
Seo then said, "No matter how popular Korean food is with people around the world these days, promoting it in this way is truly wrong."
