Chinese President Xi Jinping, in his first meeting on the 31st with new Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, expressed a willingness to maintain communication between the two countries and cooperate for a constructive and stable relationship.
According to China's state-run Xinhua News Agency, Xi met with Prime Minister Takaichi on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju on the day. It has been about a year since Xi last sat down with a Japanese prime minister.
Xi said, "China will work with Japan for a constructive and stable bilateral relationship that meets the demands of the new era," adding, "China will maintain communication with Japan to help ensure China-Japan relations move onto the right track."
