At a kimchi factory in China, a man was caught smoking and spitting while working, drawing outrage around the world. Chinese authorities launched an urgent investigation and said they would seize and discard the entire batch.
According to local outlets including Sichuan Daily on the 28th, the video in question was reportedly filmed at a kimchi factory in Huludao, Liaoning province, in northeast China.
In the video, the man steps into a container holding pickled vegetables and takes out cabbages. The problem is that he has a cigarette in his mouth or in his hand. He even spits onto the kimchi and rubs it with his foot.
The video spread quickly on Chinese social media (SNS). Chinese internet users said it was "so disgusting" and that he "must be found and punished," expressing anger.
In response, the Huludao Municipal Administration for Market Regulation said it had immediately launched an investigation. Authorities said, "The kimchi in question has been fully seized and will be discarded before entering the market," adding, "We are currently investigating the company involved, and those responsible will face severe punishment in accordance with the law with no leniency."
