Sean Taffin de Givenchy, a descendant of the founder of the famous French luxury brand "Givenchy," married a Korean woman, Jeong Da-hye.
According to the U.K.'s Daily Mail on the 23rd (local time), the two were married in August at the Sainte-Clotilde Basilica, owned by the Givenchy family in Paris, France. The wedding lasted three days, with many prominent figures from the Givenchy family attending. French media called it "the best society wedding of the year," drawing significant attention.
Jeong and Sean are known to be the same age, in their late 20s. They first met in 2018 at the freshman welcome event at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and later became a couple. After getting engaged in New York, the two lived together and are said to have prepared for the wedding for about a year.
Sean is currently a senior commercial finance analyst at the auction house Christie's. Jeong, who was born in Seoul and grew up moving between the United States and Canada, completed an MBA at Columbia University in New York and works at Taffin, a bespoke jewelry brand run by Sean's uncle, James de Givenchy.
In an interview with Vogue France, Sean said, "She was part of the event volunteer team, helping with coat check, ticket scanning and handing out water bottles," and added, "When I first saw her, I couldn't approach, but the next time we met, friends encouraged an introduction, and I got her phone number."
He added, "Thanks to stretching the (wedding) festivities over several days, I was happy to connect and catch up with family I hadn't seen in a long time."
Both the engagement ring and wedding ring of the couple are from Taffin, the Givenchy family brand. For the opening event, Jeong wore a dress by Victoria Beckham and a jacket by the Korean brand Kimhekim, and for the Catholic wedding ceremony, she wore a wedding dress by Andrew Kwon, a designer of Korean descent.
Regarding the wedding, Jeong said, "The concept I dreamed of was 'timeless classics with Parisian sophistication,'" and noted, "I gathered inspiration every weekend to create more than 100 vision boards, and the planner perfectly brought that sensibility to life."
Givenchy is a brand founded in 1952 by Hubert de Givenchy and became famous for dressing actor Audrey Hepburn. It was acquired in 1988 by Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH), the world's largest luxury group, but the family is still known to wield influence in the fashion industry.
