A well-known Ukrainian cryptocurrency investor was found dead in his Lamborghini.
According to foreign media including the Times of India and the New York Post on the 14th (local time), Ukrainian police said Ukrainian cryptocurrency influencer Konstantin Galich, 32, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head on the 11th inside a Lamborghini Urus in the Obolonskyi district of Kyiv, Ukraine. A gun registered to Galich was also found at the scene.
Local authorities believe Galich took his own life and are investigating the exact cause of death.
Galich, better known by the stage name Kostya Kudo, reportedly told his family the day before his death that he felt depressed due to financial difficulties and also sent a farewell message.
The outlet reported that Galich's death appears to be related to a crash in major cryptocurrency markets, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. On the 10th, just before his death, after U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned additional tariff measures against China, the cryptocurrency market took a major hit.
About $400 billion (about 568 trillion won) in total market capitalization of virtual assets evaporated, and in the virtual asset derivatives market a record $19 billion (about 26 trillion won) was liquidated in just one day. Bitcoin and Ethereum plunged as much as 14% and 12.2%, respectively, from their peaks. Galich was also reported to have suffered losses of about $30 million (about 42.5 billion won) at that time.
