The British Chamber of Commerce in Korea (BCCK) was selected as the International Chamber of the Year in recognition of its contributions to business exchanges between Korea and the United Kingdom.
According to the industry on the 15th (local time), BCCK received the award at the 2025 British Chambers of Commerce Business Awards ceremony held in London. This award is seen as the result of recognizing BCCK's diverse events, policy advocacy activities, and efforts to support member companies among more than 70 BCC networks worldwide.
In particular, the background of the award appears to include the Empower program that BCCK launched with the British Embassy in Korea in 2023. Designed to address gender gaps in Korean workplaces, the program focuses on offering mid-level female professionals ▲ capacity-building workshops ▲ meetings with female role models ▲ networking opportunities. It has now established itself as a collaborative model referenced by British chambers of commerce around the world.
Lucinda Walker, head of the British Chamber of Commerce in Korea, said, "Over the past year, we have focused on strengthening engagement with member companies and creating practical cooperation opportunities between the two countries," adding, "This achievement is the fruit of the joint efforts of the BCCK team, the operating committee, and the corporations we work with."
British Ambassador to Korea Colin Crooks said, "BCCK has played a pivotal role at the heart of the British business community in Korea, driving growth and job creation between the two countries," adding, "In particular, the Empower program is a best practice that leads workplace gender equality and inspires countless female professionals."
