Cambodian police reportedly said on the 17th (local time) that they will deport 59 Koreans who took part in online scam crimes.
AFP reported on the 16th that the Cambodian national police said in a statement that day, "We plan to deport 59 Koreans who were rescued by Cambodian authorities or detained for other crimes to their home country in cooperation with the Korean Embassy (in Cambodia)."
Initially, 63 Koreans were detained by Cambodia's immigration department, but on the 14th, two were first repatriated on a national flag carrier. The 59 people Cambodian police identified for deportation differ from the remaining 61 identified by the Korean government.
Earlier, the Korean government said it was preparing flights and aimed to repatriate them to Korea by this weekend. Police are reportedly planning to bring to Korea first those Koreans for whom arrest warrants have been issued.
