The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will issue level 4 (travel ban) advisories starting at 12 a.m. on the 16th for some areas in Cambodia where crimes such as job scams and confinement have recently surged. It will also raise travel advisories for other areas.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs designated the Bokor Mountain area in Kampot Province, Bavet City, and Poipet City as travel-ban areas and issued a level 3 (recommendation to leave) advisory for Preah Sihanouk Province. Accordingly, citizens who visit or stay in these areas may be punished under the Passport Act and other relevant regulations.
The current special travel advisory remains in effect for Oddar Meanchey Province, Preah Vihear Province, Banteay Meanchey Province, Battambang Province, Pailin Province, Pursat Province, Koh Kong Province, and Phnom Penh. In addition, areas previously at level 1 (exercise caution) are raised to level 2 (refrain from travel).
With this adjustment, Cambodia's travel advisory status is divided as follows: ▲ level 4 (travel ban): Bokor Mountain area in Kampot Province, Bavet City, Poipet City ▲ level 3 (recommendation to leave): Preah Sihanouk Province ▲ special travel advisory: Oddar Meanchey Province, Preah Vihear Province, etc. ▲ level 2 (refrain from travel): all other areas.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, "Incidents such as illegal job brokering targeting our nationals, confinement, and assault continue to occur in some parts of Cambodia," and urged, "Please cancel travel to the affected areas immediately." It also noted, "We will continue to closely monitor local public safety conditions and keep reviewing the need for further adjustments to the travel advisories."
