Korea men's national soccer team member Son Heung-min, 33, of LAFC, was selected as the best soccer player in Asia by a Chinese sports media outlet.
The Chinese outlet Titan Sports (English name Titan Sports) said on the 13th that Son Heung-min won the "Sports Weekly 2025 Asian Golden Globe Awards" "Asian Ballon d'Or."
The Asian Golden Globe Awards is a prize Titan Sports created in 2013, inspired by the Ballon d'Or presented by the French outlet France Football. The Ballon d'Or is considered the most prestigious award in world soccer.
The award targets players who play for a country or team under the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). This year's winner was decided by votes from 42 judges representing AFC member countries and regions and 22 specially invited international judges.
Son Heung-min received 146 points. He outpaced Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain, 105 points) and Portugal national team star Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays in the Saudi Arabian league (Al Nassr, 91 points).
This is Son Heung-min's 10th time winning the award. Previously, Son won in 2014 and 2015, and then received the award seven years in a row starting in 2017.
In 2013, when Son Heung-min did not win, Honda Keisuke (Japan) took the award. In 2016, it was Okazaki Shinji (Japan), and last year it was Akram Afif (Qatar).
