The U.S. Donald Trump administration is expected to postpone imposing a "100% tariff" on imported pharmaceuticals.
The U.S. political outlet Politico reported on the 1st (local time) that the Trump administration has tentatively halted plans to implement tariffs on pharmaceuticals while it negotiates with multinational drugmakers.
In fact, on the 25th of last month, President Trump said that unless pharmaceutical manufacturing plants are "being built," a 100% tariff on pharmaceuticals would be imposed starting Oct. 1, but no executive order has been announced.
The Trump administration appears to have delayed imposing tariffs on pharmaceuticals and is negotiating with global drugmakers such as Pfizer over investment in the U.S. and cuts in U.S. sales prices.
Earlier, on the 30th of last month, Pfizer announced plans to cut prices for new drugs sold in the United States and to invest $70 billion (about 98 trillion won) in the U.S. President Trump said there would be a three-year tariff waiver for Pfizer.
