A passenger passing through customs at an airport in Florida was caught carrying a skull and bones believed to be human.
According to the New York Post on the 18th (local time), Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at Tampa International Airport found a skull and bones wrapped in aluminum foil while inspecting passenger A's luggage.
A claimed the bones were intended to be used for a "ritual."
Carlos Martel, the Tampa airport field director, said, "Bones that appear to be part of a human skull, several bone fragments, and prohibited plants were found together." The passenger also had cigars.
Customs authorities deemed the remains a serious threat to health and disposed of them. A reportedly expressed displeasure over the disposal of the remains.
U.S. authorities are investigating the exact circumstances, including whether the remains found are actually human bones.
