U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said on the 14th that he visited Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul and "prayed for Charlie Kirk's soul and his family." While visiting Korea, he mourned Kirk, a conservative U.S. influencer who died in a shooting on the 10th.
Landau said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that day, "I was blessed to attend an English Mass at the Roman Catholic cathedral in Seoul," and "I was impressed to see the cathedral filled with Koreans and foreigners."
He added, "During the Mass, people came up to the altar and put offerings in a basket, which was new to me." That method of offering is not common in the United States.
Landau also referred to the Kirk shooting and said, "Foreigners who glorify violence and hate are not welcome in Korea."
