Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky compared Russian President Vladimir Putin to a "murderer" and said, "The way to stop a murderer is to take away his weapons, and energy is his weapon."
According to Yonhap News, President Zelensky stated on the 7th (local time) during an interview with U.S. ABC broadcast. President Zelensky noted, "We must stop all forms of energy from Russia, meaning any transaction with Russia must be halted," adding, "I expected President Donald Trump to do that, to put pressure on Putin."
President Zelensky assessed the U.S. decision to impose a 50% tariff on India due to imports of Russian crude oil as "the right thought." However, he also stated that there has been "almost nothing changed on the ground in Ukraine" following the summit between Presidents Trump and Putin.
Regarding President Putin's suggestion to hold a bilateral meeting if he comes to Moscow, President Zelensky said, "I cannot go to Moscow while my country is being attacked daily by (Russia)'s missile strikes." He added, "I cannot go to the capital of a terrorist, and he knows that," asserting, "His comments are meant to delay the meeting."
President Zelensky emphasized that a peace agreement with Russia must also ensure the security of Ukraine. He stated, "It is important not only to end the war but also to eliminate the possibility of another invasion in 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years," adding, "We need an air defense shield. A shield includes not only air defense systems but also fighter jets."
