The number of job openings at U.S. corporations reached about 7.18 million in July. This is the lowest level in 10 months.
The U.S. Department of Labor reported on the 3rd (local time) that the number of job openings at U.S. corporations for July was tallied at 7.181 million.
This is the lowest figure in 10 months since recording 7.103 million in September of last year.
The number of job openings in the U.S. has been on a downward trend for two consecutive months since May. In May, it recorded 7.712 million and in June, 7.357 million.
CNN noted, "For the first time since April 2021, the number of job openings is less than the number of unemployed (7.2 million)," adding, "This is another sign that the labor market has not just cooled but has entered a recession." It also stated, "Employment has stagnated, workers have not moved, and layoffs have remained at a low level."
